Koh Phagan for many people is synonymous to partying and the full moon party, but even if you are coming to Koh Phangan to seek peace and relaxation, the island is a good place to be. Koh Phangan has some of the best beaches in the world, where you’ll find the ultimate island vibes. We spent quite a while here and are listing them for you; the most beautiful beaches on Koh Phangan!
Most definitely our number 1 favourite beach in Koh Phangan! Located all the way in the north of the island, which makes it one of the more quiet beaches. With only 1 (and beautiful) beach cafe and a few luxury bungalows. You’ll find powdery white sand, palmtrees and some scattered boulders by the coast line.
At 50 meters from the beach is a coral reef, where every once in a while turtles are spotted. A beach nothing short of paradise if you ask us!
🛏 Spending the night at Haad Khom? Coconut Beach Bungalows are beautiful bungalows by the beach with a fantastic view. Perfect for the ultimate peace and quiet.
Haad Mae Haad
Mae Haad might be one of the most known (after Haad Rin) beaches of Koh Phangan, and for good reason. At low tide, you will see a long stretch of sand bank appear, leading to the small island of Koh Ma. Perfect for your insta photos, but there is actually really good snorkeling to the left of the sand bank as well.
If you turn the other way, away from Koh Ma, the beach will get quieter. Your chances of not seeing anyone anymore once you pass the Wang Sai Resort are pretty good. From Bar 420 (on top of the mountain), there is an excellent view on Koh Ma and the beach!
🛏 The Wang Sai Resort is the perfect place on this side of the island. On the quiet end of the beach, with nice beach bar and close to the village of Chaloklum.
Thong Nai Pan Yai
On the eat side lies another one of Koh Phangan’s most beautiful beaches; Thong Nai Pan Yai. We kind of got there ny accident during a day of driving around on the other side of the island. Except for a few resorts there is not much here, and that’s a plus in our book!
Thong Nai Pan Yai is a long stretch of white sand, close to the village of Buri Rasa, where you’ll find Thong Nai Pan Beach that is also worth it, just a little busier. Buri Rasa itself is pretty cute, with some boutique stores and atmospheric restaurants. No parties here, but it’s perfect for a romantic evening.
🛏 At Longtail Beach Resort, you will be able to rent a bungalow pretty cheap and enjoy the swimming pool directly by the beach.
Haad Son, or Secret Beach. Every self respecting Thai Island must have a secret beach! Of course this beach is not a secret, but it is charming nonetheless. Hiding behind the bushes behind the sand is a cozy little restaurant, and the massage ladies in the tent next door or worth their money, we found out!
At the end of the beach is Koh Raham, a very hip, but beautiful beach bar. You’ll get to take gorgeous sunset pictures here and don’t forget to check it out all the way in the back where the hammocks are. It’s great snorkeling around the platform in the water as well.
🛏 There is a multitude of hotels around Haad Son, including Secret Beach Bungalows.
Most beautiful beaches on Koh Phangan: Haad Salad
Between Haad Son and Haad Mae lies Haad Salad. It’s not big, but very suitable for families with young children. There’s a tiny village behind the beach, and the very popular Ying Ying’s Kitchen is very close. Haad Salad is perfect for realxing, swinging on the beach swings and to just stare at the turquoise water.
Hin Kong Beach
The most centrally located beach on our list. The beach itself isn’t necessarily what makes Hin Kong beautiful, but this is where you will find another sand bank. And not just any; it is huge. From the beach, you can easily walk a couple hundred meters, which gives you a fantastic view on the coast line on Koh Phangan.
There are a number of nice beach bars here, which we love, but also the (in our humble opinion) most beautiful place in all of Koh Phangan: King Kong Bar. They have really spent money on the decor ánd the staff, because the cocktails made here put any cocktail make in any cocktail bar in some trendy city to shame.
🛏 The Castaway Beach Bungalows are beautiful, directly on the beach bungalows. Traditionally decorated, and with a hammock on your balcony. They definitely deserve the high ratings.
The name in itself says it all: how could you not find relaxation here? At this quiet beach are a few cafe’s, and shade, which is rare! Scattered on the beach are a few trees, which create natural shade. At the end of the day people gather here to do yoga, make music and catch up. Perfect when you’re traveling solo and are feeling like some company from like minded people.
